What kind of smart are you?

Usually we often think of intelligence in terms of IQ.  And in some cases, people have been labeled for their entire lives based upon an IQ score.

But intelligence comes in many forms. If you don’t ace a standard IQ test, maybe you should ask yourself if that IQ test actually measures the kind of smart you happen to be!

A Multiple Intelligence Test helps you identify how good you are in a bunch of different ways.  It measure 8 different things:

Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence: People with this intelligence love and are talented with words. They enjoy reading, writing and learning languages. They have an ability to teach and explain things to others. They learn best by reading, taking notes and going to lectures.

Visual/Spatial Intelligence: People with this intelligence are artistic. They are very aware of their surroundings and are good at remembering images. They have a great sense of direction. They like to draw, paint and read maps. They learn best through drawings and visual aids.

Musical Intelligence: People with this intelligence love music. They appreciate rhythm and composition. They are gifted with the ability to compose, sing and/or play instrument(s).  Able to recognize sounds, tones and rhythm, they have a “good ear” for music. They learn best through lectures and often use rhythm and music as a way to memorize things.

Interpersonal Intelligence: People with this intelligence are good with people and thrive in social interactions. They are good at reading, empathize and understanding others. They are good at working with others and have many friends. They learn best through interaction and dialogue.

Naturalist Intelligence: People with this intelligence have a sensitivity to and appreciation for nature. They are gifted at nurturing and growing things as well as the ability to care for and interact with animals. They can easily distinguish patterns in nature.

  1. I like tests that tell me I’m smart! :)

I turned out to be strongest in Verbal/Linguistic and weakest in Logical/Mathematical Intelligence (as I had originally guessed). I was surprised to see that I was almost exactly the same level intrapersonal as interpersonal, but I hope that’s a good thing :) .

  2. Being strong in intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligences means that you likely are super-awesome with people. You understand yourself and also relate well to others because in some way you can ‘see inside’ them too. Cool!
