So why are you here? Really.
“What am I here for? What am I supposed to be doing with my life? What should be sharing with the world, and how?”
These are questions that many people have. And they tend to come up more often when you’re feeling really uncomfortable, or can’t seem to find that spark of enthusiasm that was once there.
The farther away you are from doing what you were meant to do, the more frustrated or lost you feel in your life. You usually won’t know what exactly is bothering you, but boy will you ever feel it.
So what should you do?
The first step in answering these universal questions is to figure out what really energizes or motivates you. Finding that will definitely put you on the right track.
Steve Pavlina described a simple way to begin this process. It taps into your intuitive, right-brained thinking and gives you a perspective you probably haven’t really thought of before.
(To learn to tap into this right-brained thinking more easily and balance the way your brain works, fill in the information at the top of this blog and instantly get the free ebook, Turn Up the Voltage On Your Mental Power.)
Don’t let the simplicity of this exercise fool you. It is very powerful.
Here’s what to do:
1. Take out a blank sheet of paper or open up a word processor where you can type (I prefer the latter because it’s faster).
2. Write at the top, “What is my true purpose in life?”
3. Write an answer (any answer) that pops into your head. It doesn’t have to be a complete sentence. A short phrase is fine.
4. Repeat step 3 until you write the answer that makes you cry. This is your purpose.
That’s it. Usually it takes 15-20 minutes to clear your head of all the clutter and the social conditioning about what you think your purpose in life is. The false answers will come from your mind and your memories. But when the true answer finally arrives, it will cause you to surge with emotion. The true answer will be the one that breaks you.
If you’ve never done this, it may very well sound silly to you. So let it seem silly, and do it anyway.
You might be amazed at what you find out.

Yeah, sometimes the simplest things in life make the biggest impact. So why are we always looking for the complicated ones, do you think?
